Here, to my mind, as an expert in business storytelling training, are the three most important words in any kind of writing or storytelling.
People, people, people.
The best way to communicate in most situations is not about systems, procedures, processes or administration. The best way is to tell the story of people involved in those systems, procedures, etc.
I don’t want to talk about immigration. I want to talk about Eliza Lopez who came here from such-and-such a place and how she fits into the bigger picture.
It’s an easier way to learn. We care about people, people, people. We don’t care so much about the systems.
You want to humanize your stories by focusing on what brings out the emotion and passion. It’s not processes and procedures. It’s people, people, people.
